What we have

Privacy & Data Use Statement

At Unicorn Leap Ltd, we are committed to protecting the privacy, integrity, and rights of our customers in accordance with UK data protection legislation. This Privacy & Data Use Statement outlines how we collect, process, store, and use personal data lawfully when generating leads and connecting individuals with government-backed schemes such as ECO4, GBIS, and renewable energy initiatives.

Our data processing activities are conducted in strict compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR). We operate as a data controller and, in some cases, as a data processor, depending on the contractual arrangements with third-party partners (e.g. accredited installers or energy suppliers).

Legal Basis for Data Processing

We rely on Article 6(1)(a), (b), and (f) of the UK GDPR as the lawful basis for processing personal data:

  • Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): When an individual completes a web form, contacts us via phone, or consents to marketing communications, we obtain clear, informed, and freely given consent to collect and use their personal data for the purposes stated.
  • Contractual necessity (Article 6(1)(b)): If a customer requests eligibility checks or lead generation services as part of a scheme (such as ECO4), data is processed to take steps at the request of the data subject prior to entering into a contract.
  • Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)): We have a legitimate interest in generating and supplying verified leads to our partners, provided that such interests are not overridden by the rights or freedoms of the data subject.

Categories of Data We Collect

We may collect personal information including (but not limited to): full name, address, postcode, contact number, email, benefits status, property type, heating system, and eligibility-related information. Where required, we also collect supporting documents for scheme qualification under lawful consent.

Purpose of Data Use

We never sell personal data to third parties. All data sharing is governed by strict Data Sharing Agreements (DSAs) and contracts that require GDPR compliance by all parties involved.

Data Retention & Security

We retain data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined or to meet legal obligations (e.g. record-keeping for audit under Ofgem or TrustMark requirements). All personal data is stored securely, encrypted at rest and in transit, and access is limited to authorised personnel only.

Individual Rights

Under UK GDPR, customers have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of their personal data. They also have the right to data portability and to withdraw consent at any time by contacting us at info@energy-leap.co.uk
